Instrument Rating

Once you have acquired the skills of a private pilot and received your license, greater horizons lay ahead. An instrument rating, or flying by reference to instruments, allows you the freedom of flying without outside visual references. You will develop a thorough understanding of the flight instruments and how to interpret them with precision providing you precise control of the airplane. Your flying is no longer limited to fair weather and "clear of clouds". Bad weather no longer has to put a stop to your flight plans. Instrument flying adds even more knowledge and skill to your flying abilities as well as enhancing your confidence and safety. You will become part of a more "elite" group of pilots who understand how to navigate purely by reading the airplane's instruments. This is a challenging and satisfying rating to achieve which adds new opportunities and dimensions to your flying.
