Instrument Rating
Once you have acquired the skills of a private pilot and have
received your license, greater horizons lay ahead. An instrument
rating or flying by reference to instruments allows you the freedom
to fly without outside visual reference and under the control of the
FAA Airspace System. You will develop a thorough understanding of
the flight instruments and how to interpret them with precision;
that is, providing you with precise control of the airplane. Your
flying is no longer limited to fair weather and "clear of clouds".
Bad weather, under most conditions, will no longer put a stop to
your flight plans. Instrument flying adds more knowledge and skill
to your flying ability as well as enhances your confidence and
safety. You will become part of a more "elite" group of pilots, who
understand how to navigate purely by reading the airplane's
instruments. Once this challenging and satisfying rating is
achieved, new opportunities and dimensions are added to your flying.
To
obtain your Instrument Rating, pilots need to complete a minimum of
40 hours of dual instruction in addition to having logged at least
50 cross-country pilot-in-command hours.
Terms are payment in full (cash/check/charge card) upon completion
of each lesson.
